What is the Cardiac Risk Blood Test?
Our Cardiac Risk Blood Test assesses key markers linked to heart health, helping to identify your risk of developing cardiovascular conditions such as heart disease, stroke, and diabetes.
This test is ideal if you:

- Are monitoring cholesterol or blood sugar levels

It’s also a great option if you want to take a proactive approach to protecting your long-term health.
Heart disease often develops gradually and may not present obvious symptoms in its early stages. This test focuses on key risk factors that can contribute to cardiovascular conditions.
It provides insight into:
- Cholesterol levels (good and bad cholesterol)
- Blood sugar control (diabetes risk)
- Inflammation within the body
By identifying these markers early, you can take steps to reduce your risk through lifestyle changes, monitoring, or further medical advice.
This test measures 8 biomarkers across 3 categories:
- Inflammation (1 biomarker)
- Diabetes (1 biomarker)
- Cholesterol (6 biomarkers)
Together, these markers provide a clear overview of your cardiovascular risk profile.
- You must be 18 years or over to take this test
- Fasting is required for 8–12 hours before your test
What biomarkers do we test?
- HDL: HDL helps remove excess cholesterol from the bloodstream, reducing the risk of heart disease.
- LDL: LDL can lead to plaque build-up in arteries, increasing risk of heart disease and stroke.
- Triglycerides: Triglycerides are fats in the blood that can increase cardiovascular risk if elevated.
- Total Cholesterol: Measures total cholesterol in the blood.
- Cholesterol Ratio: Ratio used to assess cardiovascular risk.
- Non-HDL Cholesterol: Measures all harmful cholesterol combined.
- hs-CRP: Measures inflammation linked to disease risk.
- HbA1c: Reflects blood glucose over 2–3 months.

Results are typically available within 10 working days from when your sample reaches the laboratory.

Please be aware:
Some people may feel dizzy and/or faint during and after their blood draw. If this has happened to you in the past, please tell the person carrying out the test so they are aware. The maximum attempts that are permitted with your consent will be two blood draw attempts. It is common to have a small amount of bruising after the procedure. This is normal and should resolve after a few days. However, if the area becomes red or swollen, please seek medical advice. Its fine to bring someone with you for support.
