What is the Thyroid Function Blood Test?
Our Thyroid Function Blood Test measures key thyroid hormones to assess how well your thyroid gland is working and whether your hormone levels are within a healthy range.
This test is ideal if you are experiencing symptoms such as:

- Sensitivity to cold or heat

Your thyroid is a small gland in your neck that plays a vital role in regulating metabolism, energy levels, and many essential bodily functions.
This test measures key hormones that control how your thyroid functions, helping to identify whether it may be:
- Underactive (hypothyroidism)
- Overactive (hyperthyroidism)

This test measures 2 biomarkers across 1 category:
- Thyroid (2 biomarkers)
- Free T4 (Thyroxine)
- Thyroid Stimulating Hormone (TSH)

- You must be 18 years or over to take this test
- No fasting is required

Please be aware:
Some people may feel dizzy and/or faint during and after their blood draw. If this has happened to you in the past, please tell the person carrying out the test so they are aware. The maximum attempts that are permitted with your consent will be two blood draw attempts. It is common to have a small amount of bruising after the procedure. This is normal and should resolve after a few days. However, if the area becomes red or swollen, please seek medical advice. Its fine to bring someone with you for support.
