Test Overview
What is the Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) Blood Test?
Our Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) Blood Test checks for antibodies linked to H. pylori — a common type of bacteria that can infect the stomach lining.
This test is ideal if you are experiencing symptoms such as:
- Ongoing stomach discomfort or pain
- Bloating or frequent burping
- Nausea or loss of appetite
- Unexplained weight loss
It’s also suitable if you want to rule out a possible stomach infection or better understand ongoing digestive symptoms.
H.Pylori is a common bacterial infection that can affect the stomach lining. In some cases, it may lead to conditions such as gastritis or stomach ulcers.
Many people with H. pylori do not experience symptoms, which means infections can go unnoticed.
This test detects antibodies produced by your immune system in response to the bacteria. A positive result may indicate a current or previous infection and may require further investigation or treatment.
This test measures 1 key biomarker across 1 category:
- H. pylori (1 biomarker)
- Helicobacter pylori antibodies
- You must be 18 years or over to take this test
- No fasting is required

What biomarkers do we test?
- H. pylori Antibodies: Indicates exposure to H. pylori bacteria.
More Information
H. pylori can be passed between people through close contact or contaminated food and water.
In some individuals, the bacteria can weaken the protective lining of the stomach, potentially leading to discomfort or digestive issues over time.
Common symptoms may include:
- A burning or aching sensation in the stomach
- Bloating or nausea
- Loss of appetite
It’s important to note that this test detects antibodies, meaning it may not distinguish between a current or past infection. Further testing may be recommended if required.
Results are typically available within 3–5 working days from when your sample reaches the laboratory.
