Test Overview

What is the Anaemia Blood Test?

Our Anaemia Blood Test is designed to assess your iron levels and key nutrients involved in red blood cell production. It helps identify whether you may be experiencing anaemia and provides clear insight into your overall blood health.

Who is this test for?

This test may be beneficial if you are experiencing symptoms such as:

  • Persistent tiredness or low energy
  • Pale skin
  • Shortness of breath
  • Heart palpitations or headaches

It’s also suitable if you simply want a better understanding of your iron levels and nutritional health.

About This Test

Anaemia occurs when your body does not have enough healthy red blood cells to carry oxygen effectively. This test looks at both iron levels and Vitamin B12, helping to identify some of the most common causes of anaemia.

By analysing these markers together, this test can help highlight whether your symptoms may be linked to:

  • Iron deficiency
  • Vitamin B12 deficiency
  • Issues with iron transport within the body

Early detection allows you to take proactive steps to improve your health and seek further advice if needed.

What’s Included in This Test

This test measures 4 key biomarkers across 2 categories:

  • Vitamin B12 (1 biomarker)
  • Iron Profile (3 biomarkers)

These markers work together to give a clear and comprehensive picture of your blood health and iron status.

Requirements & Preparation
  • You must be 18 years or over to take this test
  • No fasting is required for this test
(For other tests, this section can be adapted — e.g. fasting, time of day, hydration, etc.)

What biomarkers do we test?

Iron Profile 3 biomarkers
  • Iron: Iron is essential for producing haemoglobin, allowing oxygen transport around the body.
  • Transferrin: Transferrin transports iron through the bloodstream.
  • TIBC: Measures how well iron is carried in the blood.
Vitamins 1 biomarkers
  • Vitamin B12: Supports red blood cell formation and nervous system function.

More Information

This test not only measures the level of iron in your blood, but also assesses how effectively your body is able to transport and use it.

Vitamin B12 is also included, as low levels can lead to a type of anaemia where red blood cells become enlarged and do not function properly.

By combining these results, this test provides a more complete understanding of your symptoms and overall wellbeing.
