Test Overview
What is the Cholesterol Blood Test?
Our Cholesterol Blood Test measures the levels of fats (lipids) in your blood, helping to assess your risk of heart disease, stroke, and other cardiovascular conditions.
This test is ideal if you:
- Want to check your cholesterol levels
- Have a family history of heart disease
- Are monitoring your heart health
- Want reassurance about your cardiovascular risk
As high cholesterol often has no symptoms, this test is a simple and effective way to stay informed about your health.
Cholesterol is a fatty substance found in your blood that plays an important role in normal body function. However, when levels become too high, it can increase your risk of serious health conditions.
This test measures both:
- “Good” cholesterol (HDL) – helps remove excess cholesterol from the bloodstream
- “Bad” cholesterol (LDL) – can build up in arteries and increase cardiovascular risk
It also looks at your overall cholesterol balance and additional lipid markers to give a clearer picture of your heart health.
This test measures 6 biomarkers across 1 category:
- Cholesterol (6 biomarkers)
These markers provide a detailed overview of your lipid profile and cardiovascular risk.
- You must be 18 years or over to take this test
- Fasting is required for 8–12 hours before your test

What biomarkers do we test?
- HDL: HDL helps remove excess cholesterol from the bloodstream, reducing the risk of heart disease.
- LDL: LDL can lead to plaque build-up in arteries, increasing risk of heart disease and stroke.
- Triglycerides: Triglycerides are fats in the blood that can increase cardiovascular risk if elevated.
- Total Cholesterol: Measures total cholesterol in the blood.
- Cholesterol Ratio: Ratio used to assess cardiovascular risk.
- Non-HDL Cholesterol: Measures all harmful cholesterol combined.
